The Casons Quick Tour 8 Days-7 nights

Day 1

This short tour begins with an airport pick-up and direct drive to the historical hill kingdom of Kandy, stopping by to visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage—the world's largest elephant conservation project featuring these majestic creatures of all sizes bathing, feeding and playing. You will be able to get up close and experience the nature of these gentle animals in a safe environment.

Along the way, we will stop at Mawanella Spice gardens, an aromatic trip through lush and exotic groves of cardamom, cinnamon, clove and hundreds of other spices. These spices were worth their weight in gold to explorers and merchants who travelled from around the world to Sri Lanka.

We will then check in at the Hotel in Kandy, where after refreshments, our last stop of the day is the Arts and Crafts and Gem Bureau where you can learn about the history and traditional processes of mining for precious gemstones in Sri Lanka.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast in Kandy, we will leave to Nuwara Eliya—Sri Lanka's "Little England", where we will make a stop at the historical Peradeniya Botanical gardens en route. These stunning slopes set in acres of beautiful forest and orchards are a wonder of Sri Lanka's naturalism and flora.

The drive to Nuwara Eliya—a little town 6,000 ft. above sea level is filled with stunning views over acres of tea plantation, cascading waterfalls and magnificent slopes. You will stay overnight at old-fashioned colonial-style hotel that is typical of this region—be prepared for chilly weather.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will set off for Colombo via the rocky rapids of Kithulgala, famous for white-water rafting in Sri Lanka. A relaxing drive will bring you to the island's major metropolis in the early afternoon, where you will be taken on an evening tour of the city which includes wonderful stops at famous shopping locations such as Odel, Barefoot and House of Fashion. Your last evening on the island will be spent at a city hotel.

Day 4

Leave for the airport from Colombo city. This short tour captures the essence of the island without too much hectic activity, but leaves you wanting to return.

The Casons Cultural Tour 8 Days-7 nights

Day 1

You will be met by Casons representatives upon arrival at Colombo International Airport and taken to Browns Beach Hotel at Negombo, around an hour's drive from the airport. Negombo is a bustling little beach town, with a constant festival-like atmosphere, an active night-life and a great variety of restaurants. Casons will arrange for you to explore the town after your arrival, and enjoy a relaxing overnight stay for your first night on the island.

Day 2:

After breakfast you will set off to Sigiriya, an inland village in Sri Lanka named after the ancient rock-fortress, Sigiriya (Lion's Rock).

We proceed to Sigiriya via Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage—the world's largest elephant conservation project featuring these majestic creatures of all sizes bathing, feeding and playing. You will be able to get up close and experience the nature of these gentle animals in a safe environment.

The Sigiriya fortress and palace situated in the Matale district in central Sri Lanka. The complex is a huge structure with perfectly maintained gardens, grounds, pools and palatial enclosures, and was the seat of King Kasyapa. Sigiriya's fame extends because of its beautifully preserved frescos or ancient mural-like paintings.

After climbing Sigiriya rock, we will proceed to the beautiful nearby Hotel Sigiriya for the night—the hotel is an eco-friendly tourist destination with magnificent views of the rock fortress and surrounding greenery.

Day 3:

Leave hotel after breakfast and journey to the historical hill kingdom of Kandy. We will stop at two locations en-route.

Dambulla Cave Temple: This incredibly preserved underground temple complex is a celebration of the life of the Lord Buddha depicting several ancient paintings and sculptures.

Matale Spice Gardens: The Matale Spice gardens specialize in herbs and spices for Sri Lankan traditional medicines and aromatics for cooking. Enjoy a trip through lush and exotic groves of cardamom, cinnamon, clove and hundreds of other spices. These spices were worth their weight in gold to explorers and merchants who travelled from around the world to Sri Lanka.

Once you arrive at the historical hill kingdom of Kandy, you will be greeted with the ceremonial drums and traditional dances of Sri Lanka's prized Kandyan dancers and firewalkers. You will also be able to tour the beautiful city of Kandy, at the center of which is the Kandy lake nestled between a number of hillocks and mountains, before checking into your hotel.

Day 4:

After a hearty breakfast in Kandy, we will leave to Nuwara Eliya—Sri Lanka's "Little England", The drive to Nuwara Eliya—a little town 6,000 ft. above sea level is filled with stunning views over acres of tea plantation, cascading waterfalls and magnificent slopes.

We will make a stop at a tea factory and plantation to tour the location to understand how the tea plucking, firing and packaging process works. We will also make stops at the Ramboda and Garadiya Ella waterfalls; two of the most spectacular waterfalls in the country.

Once we reach the little town of Nuwara Eliya, we will tour sites—the racing track, golf greens, Gregory's lake and then the Sita Amman temple. You will stay overnight at old-fashioned colonial-style hotel that is typical of this region—be prepared for chilly weather!

Day 5:

After breakfast, we set off for Colombo via the rocky rapids of Kithulgala, famous for white-water rafting in Sri Lanka. A relaxing drive into the city will bring you to the major metropolis in the early afternoon where you can relax and rejuvenate at a city hotel in Colombo

Day 6:

A daytime city tour of Colombo which includes wonderful stops at heritage architectural sites such as the Old Parliament, Colombo city Town Hall and Buddhist and Hindu temples. Also on the day's agenda are several stops at famous shopping locations such as Odel, Barefoot and House of Fashion.

Leave for the airport from Colombo city late that evening. This tour is perfect for cultural and heritage enthusiasts who want a taste of the historical depth of the island.

The Casons Wildlife Tour 8 Days-7 nights

Day 1:

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you will set off to Habarana, an inland village in the heart of Sri Lanka's cultural and naturalist environment. En-route, we will stop at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage—the world's largest elephant conservation project featuring these majestic creatures of all sizes bathing, feeding and playing. You will be able to get up close and experience the nature of these gentle animals in their beautiful enclosure.

Upon checking in to the hotel, Casons has arranged for a wildlife safari at Minneriya National Park. At 8890 hectares, Minneriya is the smallest of Sri Lanka's wildlife conservation parks, with of miles of evergreen forests and scrubs and thriving with Sri Lanka's reknowned sambar deer, leopards and elephants.

After the exciting trip, we journey back to the hotel at Habarana to unwind with a leisurely dinner.

Day 3:

The following day after breakfast at the hotel, we journey to Ritigala Mountain Heritage, a high mountainous conservation area around 40km Southeast of the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura, shrouded in mist. There are over 70 caves at Ritigala, an ancient monastery enclosed around a large man-made reservoir.

We then journey to Kaudulla National Wildlife Park, one of the newest national parks and is also a wildlife a reserve and eco-tourism attraction. Kaudulla is situated around a the ancient reservoir, after the same name. The reservoir offers several opportunities for close-range sightings of elephants, leopard and even the occasional sloth bear. We return to the same hotel that night for dinner.

Day 4:

After breakfast at the hotel, we set off to Kandy, but not before an exciting elephant-back ride. Day 5:

After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for Wasgamuwa National Park in 4x4 vehicles, one of Sri Lanka's most famous natural wildlife reserves. Man-made reservoirs, tanks and canals criss-cross the entire area sustaining the 23 species of mammal and 143 species of bird who call the park home. Sightings include sloth bears, wild buffaloes, deer and leopard, water monitors and crocodiles.

We dine at a lodge in Wasgamuwa where we enjoy an overnight stay at the park.

Day 6:

We breakfast at the hotel and leave for Dabana village, the home of Sri Lanka's indigineous inhabitants, also known as veddahs. They are direct descendants of the islands original Neolithic community dating to 14,000 B.C. known as the Yaksha and Naga tribes. This tribe lives a sustainable life in this part of Sri Lanka engaging in hunting and subsistence farming.

After returning from Dabana village, we return to Kandy for dinner.

Day 7:

After breakfast, we will set off for Colombo. A relaxing drive into the city will bring you to the major metropolis in the early afternoon where you can relax and rejuvenate at a city hotel in Colombo.

A city tour of Colombo includes wonderful stops at heritage architectural sites such as the Old Parliament, Colombo city Town Hall and Buddhist and Hindu temples. Also on the day's agenda are several stops at famous shopping locations such as Odel, Barefoot and House of Fashion. After a day's sightseeing and shopping we return to the hotel to dine and relax.

Day 8:

We leave for the airport in time for individual flights.
